I first got into small groups when I started attending SSCC as a way to meet people and make closer friendships with the few people I already knew. I am still in small group, or fuel cell, but now to keep friendships with those girls strong, and to strengthen all of our lives in Christ, both in and outside of church.
Comment by Laura September 2, 2007 @ 3:49 pmI started going to Smallgroups to meet people, and now I go because I love all the girls in my group and my leader Tami. And it gives me something to look forward to and be away from the pressure of school. I remember I was having the worst day at school and I was getting yelled at by my parents, but I came to my Smallgroup and I forgot it all. I love my Smallgroup!
Comment by Elora September 2, 2007 @ 5:51 pmokay soo the first time i went into a small group i thought wow this is kinda dumb. but recently i changed my thinking and the small group is a way to connect with friends and learn the word. Small Groups help.
Comment by Davis September 2, 2007 @ 7:43 pmThe first year I joined small groups, I didn’t really enjoy them. I guess it was because it was my first year at SSCC and I was still really new to the way things worked. But, last year, my small group was the best! I joined Anita and Michelle’s group. It was a great experience for me. Every week we did fun little crafts to help us get to know God a little bit more. I remember on time, we were put into groups of three or four. Each group had to bake a cake by looking up verses in the bible that would help us fill out a recipe sheet for the cake. I guess you could call it a race. Some cakes ended up turning out better than others, but we didn’t care. That activity helped us learn how to get to verses in the bible(quicker than we usually do) and also work together. And every week, I could just feel us pulling closer together. Now, every time I see Chelsie, Ashley, Ellen, Rachel, Jessica, Molly, Britney, Megan, Ellen, Shelby, or Deborah, I stop and talk to them like we just saw eachother yesterday. That’s how strong our connection is. I don’t think it will ever be broken. Small groups are the best.
Comment by Elisa September 3, 2007 @ 9:40 amI’ve never been in a small group, but I’m really looking forward to joining one because I feel like I need to connect closer the girls at church and more importantly in my relationship with God. I just joined this church about 4 or 5 months ago because I knew a lot of people from school, and already my relationship with God has grown. I can’t wait to make it even stronger!!
Comment by Hillary September 5, 2007 @ 8:33 pmI have only been in one small group but it was a great experience. Honestly at first i wasn’t to excited about joining a small group but i figured i could give it a try. Although i am really glad i did because i met some amazing people and one of them is one of my best friends to this day. I am especially excited for these fuel cell groups and can not wait until they begin. I have met even more people since then and i am looking forward to continuing my walk with God and doing it with some of my closest friends and making some new friends who have the same goals with God as i do!
Comment by Madison September 10, 2007 @ 5:07 pmyou know… when i first did small groups, i’m not gonna say i was shy or hated them… cuase i’m not shy or quiet! haha! Now that I think about it, small groups have changed my life! Last year i was in Anita and Michelle’s small group! i admit i was a little crazy… actually really crazy! but michelle and anita both helped me learn how to control my insanity and to let others have a chance to say their opinion,,, oops… the girls in my small group last year were Chelsie (johnny),Ashley, Elisa, Megan, Molly, Ellen, Shelby, Jessica, Rachel, Deborah, and we usually had a lot of girls who brought friends. The group was at my house and it was so much fun getting to know all these AMAZING girls… even when i didn’t feel like smiling, they would help me through it… if your thinking about not joining a small group, trust me, you would love it! I have been in small groups for about three years now… and i LOVE THEM! They’ve helped changed my life.. and they can help change yours!
Comment by Britney September 11, 2007 @ 9:05 pmDude, I absolutely am a poster child for why small groups work. I cannot get enough of them, and it’s amazing to me how guys can just come together and learn about God. I cannot even begin to spout off the numerous occasions on which I’ve been so blessed by being around a bunch of normal guys wanting to grow in their relationship with Christ.
There have been numerous times (as you have said in church) that we have either dropped the lesson or put it off for at least a few minutes and surrounded a guy that was struggling with counsil and support. It’s so unbelievable awe-inspiring what He can do in such a setting as this.
Comment by Josh September 19, 2007 @ 9:35 pmI want to give a big shout out to all the girls in mine and Amy’s fuel cell group! Your girls are awesome. We have been having a lot of fun with you just playing games, eating, hanging out & just getting to know you. We look forward to many other great times with all of you and growing all of our relationships closer to God. Remember to invite a friend to come along and learn how awesome our fuel cell is and more than that how awesome our God is!
Love you!!!

i have the best small group in the ENTIRE WORLD!!!!! seriously it’s like three hours of intense partying for God! it is so fabulously amazing to know that there are girls struggling with the same things as me!(i mean no joke at least half of us always have one+ prayer request in common) not to mention my BESTEST friends are in there with me, and how did we become besties??? greatly in part to Lorrie and Lilly’s (used to be cindy’s too) small group!
Comment by Arielle September 26, 2007 @ 4:31 pmOh my gosh my small group is AWESOME! This past week, I’ve been totally stressed out because I’m going through some major friendship ‘difficulties’ and i really didnt feel up to going to my small group, but i went anyways and by the time i left, i was completely relaxed because i know that i have real friends there that love me for who i am. and i just want to say that i love you ALL and thank you so much tami and amy for giving me one of the best experiences of my life! I love you guys!

If you are / were a part of a small group, why?
To become more active with the church and become closer to God and the people who attend my church; to start new relationships.
What are the benefits to you personally?
It’s a SMALL group where you can get to know everybody and feel like you can trust them enough to open up and share your thoughts, life, ect.
Anything else you’d want to say about small groups?
They’re amazing and worth commiting to!!
I would recommend signing up and giving them a chance.
